NEWS: Choral Music declared a Cultural Asset of Society in Spain
The Spanish Senate cultural commissioners met up on 19th february in 2018. In the agenda there was one bullet about the proposal by Aedcoro, raised up by Socialist group. With this action “the recognition of choral activity as social goodness and support initiatives to promote it, as well as recognition of choral conductor as necessary element for this activity” was stated by the Spanish institutions.
This statement is one step forward for choral music in Spain, which has a long history an important role both in professional and amateur stages, with thousands of people involved in this activity all over the country.
Senate members in this Comission, highlighted benefits of choral music for social, physic and emotional aspects. Indeed, these facts are proven by several researches in different countries.
Spanish Choral Association was founded in Octuber 2016 and the goal is value choral music and the work of choral conductors. This institutional statement is the first step of further actions to defend and promote the work of choral conductor and choral activity, getting more visibility in our society with better and fair screening.
